SEASTONE

Originally noted as the first home constructed in the Carmel Highlands, "Seastone" was built between 1917–1918 in the Mediterranean Revival style. The design features Byzantine-style triple-arched windows, Catalan vaults, and stained-glass accents showcasing heraldic crests, medallions, and motifs drawn from both French and Spanish traditions—including medieval armor. The exterior is clad in locally quarried Carmel limestone, adding to its historic and regional character.

An eclectic work attributed to Greene & Greene, the home has been thoughtfully reimagined by S|H Architecture for a modern family, preserving the historic “soul” of the residence while updating the infrastructure and refining the interiors in collaboration with designer Kathryn M. Ireland.
